MOORPARK, Calif. – Kavlico, an operation of Schneider Electric and a global business unit of Custom Sensors & Technologies (CST) has recently released its SmartSense™ sCAP3 Ultra-Low Power consumption Silicon MEMS based sensors which are ideal for Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS). The Kavlico sensor allows for continuous monitoring with up to a 5x faster response time.
This low cost device is extremely small in size (chip 1.2mm x 1.5mm and QFN package is 4mm x 4mm) and is available with an array of flexible mounting and packaging options. The Ultra-Low power consumption of only 20 micro amps is compatible with both battery and battery-less applications. The input voltage requirement is 2.2 to 5 Vdc and is compatible with wireless applications. Output is PWM. Operating pressure ranges of 0 to 20, 0 to 50, 0 to 115 and 0 to 500 PSIA are available. The sensors have an operating temperature range of – 40° to +125°C.
To sum up the sCAP3’s advantages, it’s low in price, extremely energy efficient, reliable, and enhances safety while ensuring optimum vehicle handling, fuel consumption and tire life.
